Denise Alvey, RD, CSSD, CLT

Owner of New Perspective Nutrition

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Science from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. I then pursued my credential in the area of Dietetics. During this time I gained knowledge and experience while working at private clinics, hospitals, schools, fitness centers and public health agencies. I passed the National Boards Examination in 2006 qualifying me as a Registered Dietitian.

My passion for nutrition began at a young age as a competitive gymnast and nationally-rated Irish dancer. My dedication to fueling my body properly helped optimize my performance which led me to want to educate others and assist them in reaching their fitness and nutritional goals.

I joined the EXOS/Athletes’ Performance Team in May of 2008; working for the company for 12 years. I focused on educating athletes all over the world on proper nutrition for overall performance, recovery and long-term health. I worked with both individual athletes along with multiple Major League teams. I wanted to specialize further in the field of sports dietetics so I became a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics in July of 2012.

I also became a Certified Lifestyle Eating and Performance Therapist so I could work with individuals suffering from food sensitivities.

Prior to this, I worked at The Life Balance Centre in Santa Barbara. I specialized in working with food intolerance and hormonal conditions such as adrenal stress, diabetes, thyroid imbalances and their impact on an individual’s weight, energy levels and overall quality of life.

After having 2 kids I decided to take my 15 years of opportunities and experiences and open my own company, New Perspective Nutrition. An exciting new chapter in my life!

I am fully committed to each client to ensure proper nutrition for optimal performance while also helping them reach their personal fitness and nutritional goals.
